It is with great sadness and urgency that I ask for your earnest prayers for Sri Lanka. The current crisis is one of the worst since the country gained its independence and it has caused massive hardship with people unable to find gas for cooking, medicines, fuel and basic items of food such as milk powder. Sri Lanka is also facing 10 to 13 hour rolling electricity blackouts as thermal generators have run out of oil and more hospitals suspended routine surgeries after running out of life-saving medicines. All this has combined to push people to the brink of desperation as they face a long period of darkness and hardship.
So let us pray:
For the people of Sri Lanka who are tired, frustrated and bitter, and have been stretched beyond their capacity to cope. May God pour out His mercy on them and bless them with the resources they need to recover and may our prayers support and encourage the Church in Sri Lanka to be a beacon of hope for the people in these dark times. Amen.
